It’s that time of year again when Laneway Festival is on everyone’s lips – and it’s upcoming lineup is in everyone’s ears. In celebration of its 22nd year, the festival has announced its return home to Brisbane Showgrounds on Saturday February 13, along with a star-studded lineup of local and international artists leaning into a pop-punk, hard-groove sound.
Taking out the top spots as headliners is Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams and her alt-pop solo show along with the irresistible Irish post-punk tunes of Fontaines D.C. Both acts will make their Laneway Festival debut next year, offering distinctly different yet complimentary sounds which once again demonstrate the intuitive know-how of one of Australia’s longest enduring festivals.
The huge international draw cards will be joined by three of the the arguably biggest pop girls on the scene right now – Adéla and her recently viral electro-pop anthems, the glossy electronic rock of Slayyyter, and bubblegum pop princess Kim Petras.
New South Wales DJ Ninajirachi will also be making her first Laneway appearance next year, having built a following in record time for her vibrant glitch EDM sets, while New Zealand rock band Balu Brigada will deliver their signature punchy new wave rhythms and lush live instrumentation.
Also on the bill are American shoe gaze rockers DIIV, Eurodance DJ and Laneway professional Horsegiirl, digi-core experimental hip-hop artist Jane Remover, Queer synth-pop legends MUNA and the hazy, nostalgic indie-rock of Rachel Chinouriri. Festival goers can also catch acts from Rico Nasty, 1TBSP, Automatic, Daine, Florence Road, Violet Grohl, Swapmeet and more at next year’s iteration of the iconic festival.
Notably, Laneway Festival will make its return to Brisbane Showgrounds next year after the event made a venue switch to Gold Coast’s Southport Sharks this year. The festival also elected to cut Adelaide and Perth from the lineup, but confirmed headline shows from Fontaines D.C., Jane Remover and Tiffany Day across both cities.
Beginning as a little street party in a Melbourne laneway, Laneway has grown into a summer ritual across Australia and New Zealand that will play shows across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland in February next year.
