The Jukebox: the best new local tunes to add to your playlist this month

Jan 27, 2026, updated Mar 06, 2026

Summer may be a thing of the past, but the spirit of sunny days and heat-induced euphoria lives on in these latest tracks out of the Sunshine State. From hypnotic EDM tracks to chaotic crowd pleasers, here’s a selection of Brisbane’s best new music.

‘Rain’ by FISHER

FISHER, the Gold Coast-born techno phenomenon and the mastermind behind chart topper ‘Losing It’, has blessed our earbuds with another dance track designed for soaking up the last of summer.

‘Rain’ is FISHER’s first track of the year, delivering the producer’s signature energetic beats and euphoric vocals set to a hypnotising synth beat we imagine would pair perfectly with being caught in the rain.

The track dropped in early February – alongside news of the return of OUT2LUNCH, the electronic music festival produced by FISHER himself – kickstarting a big year for the DJ slash producer.

‘underthetable’ by Vinted Vineer

If you haven’t come across Brisbane-based rock-synth composers Vinted Vineer yet, then there’s a chance you may have been living under a rock, or perhaps a table.

With the release of newest track ‘underthetable’ in late January, Vinted Vineer has been chasing a softer sound since their 2024 EP Tobi Yume. Swapping psychedelic synths for gentle guitar-driven melodies, the band isn’t changing its sound – merely evolving.

Through a careful balance of melancholia and hope, ‘underthetable’ goes down smooth with a rich and complex melody, the musical equivalent of a good whisky.

‘Daddy’ by Radium Dolls

There’s a lot of tracks we could have picked from Radium Dolls’ newest album, and indeed a lot we already have (Moving and Golden Boy already went triple platinum in our headphones), but ultimately the star of Wound Up for us was ‘Daddy’.

Another quintessentially Australian headbanger, ‘Daddy’ is about the fictional and filthy rich Ray, as he tells the the whining tale of Daddy’s city-wide fortune and greedy ways set to a zippy rhythm.

Now that Wound Up is officially out in the world, Radium Dolls is getting busy with a world tour which will take the band around the US in March.

‘Demolition’ by DZ Deathrays

Building on a 13-year reputation for high-energy chaos, Brisbane favourites DZ Deathrays has just released its seventh album, Easing Out of Control.

Full of garage punk, noise rock bangers, the entire album is reminiscent of skate-punk tracks of the 2000’s, though ‘Demolition’ epitomises the idea of ‘easing out of control’.

With a beat designed with moshing, chaos and headbanging in mind, ‘Demolition’ stands out from a crowd of equally powerful tracks for its absolute surrender to self-destruction.

‘helena on hinge’ by eli wan

Ambiguous pop and deflated hyperlofi – that’s how eli wan describes their sound.  Arriving on the Brisbane music scene without a trace back in late 2025, eli wan is set to become a new favourite with ‘helena on hinge’ – a glitchy and restless lament of a failed digital romance boasting major hyper-pop influences.

Part of eli wan’s endless exploration for connection in a strange and modern world, ‘helena on hinge’ was launched at an intimate Black Bear Lodge gig in late January. The artist has since been hinting at more to come in the near future – keep your eye on The Jukebox to see what comes next.
