In what will be one of the most talked-about developments in Australian property history, Surfers Paradise is poised to welcome The Trump Organization to its shores with a towering new addition to the beachfront skyline.

Set to rise in the heart of Surfers Paradise, the 91-storey tower would introduce a major new chapter in beachfront development, combining a luxury hotel, high-end residences and an array of hospitality and lifestyle offerings. While City of Gold Coast has not yet received a full development application, the deal has been signed between The Trump Organization and Australian developer Altus Property Group, placing the proposal firmly on the city’s radar.

Announcing the project, The Trump Organization described the Gold Coast tower as a significant step in its global expansion.

“Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast is our first official project in Australia and reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering world-class luxury experiences in iconic locations around the world. This development exemplifies the Trump brand’s dedication to quality, sophistication, and unmatched service, and we are thrilled to bring this vision to the vibrant Gold Coast community,” Eric Trump, EVP of The Trump Organization said in a statement.

According to the announcement, the development would include a 285-room luxury hotel bearing the Trump logo, anchoring the tower, alongside 272 luxury residential apartments. A three-level podium is planned to house an exclusive beach club, while more than 3400 square metres of premium commercial, retail and dining space is earmarked to revitalise the central Surfers Paradise precinct.

At an estimated 335 metres tall, the tower would become the tallest building in Australia if approved, positioning it as one of the country’s most prominent beachfront addresses, with sweeping coastal views and what the developers describe as a new benchmark for luxury living.

Altus Property Group founder and chief executive David Young said the project would bring a level of prestige not yet seen in the local market.

“Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast will be a truly unique offering in the Australian market, bringing the prestige and allure of a world-class luxury brand. Altus Property Group is proud of its track record in delivering landmark developments across Australia, and our expertise ensures this project will be an outstanding success.”

The announcement has already sparked conversation across the city. Supporters point to the potential for international exposure, investment and tourism, while critics have raised concerns around scale, density and the changing character of the coastline. Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate addressed the project earlier this week on Triple M Gold Breakfast with Leisel Jones, Liam & Spida, describing the tower as a major opportunity for the city.

“It’s going to be the first Trump Tower in Australia… it’s quite incredible actually, it’s all about quality. Putting the Trump brand on it, it will take it next level, and all the Americans will know where the Gold Coast is,” Mayor Tom Tate said.

For now, the project remains at the proposal stage, with further details expected to emerge once planning processes formally begin.
