If there’s one thing the French have down to an art, it’s pastries. Rooted in centuries-old techniques that emphasise precision, craftsmanship and quality ingredients, these pastries are not just desserts but culinary masterpieces. In news that is guaranteed to delight your sweet tooth, renowned boulangerie and patisserie Le Bon Choix has opened its doors at Robina Town Centre, offering a slice of European elegance.

Known for its drool-inducing array of perfectly buttery pastries and glistening single-serve desserts, the new Le Bon Choix outpost at Robina marks the brand’s second Gold Coast location and tenth in south-east Queensland. Transforming the former Starbucks on level one with a jaw-dropping $1-million fit-out, the striking new space has seriously upped the ante for your next coffee date with gold-mirrored raised ceilings, marble accents and arched windows. As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted with an enormous u-shaped cabinet filled to the brim with almost-too-pretty-to-eat individual desserts, ranging from eclairs and chocolate tarts to delicately layered creations, sitting pretty alongside flaky croissants and a rainbow array of macarons in flavours such as pistachio, lemon meringue, salted caramel and Biscoff, to name just a few.

For those who prefer savoury, you’re not forgotten – Le Bon Choix also dishes up a range of freshly made baguettes, croque monsieur, pies and focaccias. You can also grab a loaf of the venue’s famed selection of sourdough available in plain or in flavours such as pistachio and walnut, and olive to enjoy at home.

The man behind the bakery’s success, founder Savico Basset-Rouge, is no stranger to the art of pastry. Trained by the esteemed French chef Laurent Bouillon, Savico has carried the lessons from his mentor to create a legacy of excellence across Queensland. With a focus on consistency, authenticity and never taking shortcuts, Le Bon Choix exists as an ode to timeless European culinary traditions.

It’s not something Savico takes lightly. “The baton must be passed from generation to generation,” Savico says. “The authenticity of the product – flavours, ingredients, preparation and processes must be upheld. We never take shortcuts … this is how we’ve maintained the quality of our food since day one.”

Positioned overlooking the Promenade on level one, the cafe offers an outdoor dining area alongside a scattering of tables inside to accomodate almost 200 croissant-craving patrons. Unlike many cafes that close early, this location will be open seven days a week, from early morning until the centre closes, ensuring customers can enjoy a treat or coffee late into the day.
