Dinner on a rooftop? Cute. Dinner hanging off the side of a building? Now we’re talking. If you’re on the hunt for a date night that’s equal parts romantic and unforgettable, Vertigo at Brisbane Powerhouse might just be the city’s most exciting table for two.

Perched 17 metres above ground on the side of the iconic Brisbane Powerhouse building, Vertigo’s sky-high dining experience serves up incredible views, a specially curated menu and a rush of adrenaline that’s perfect for breaking the ice – or deepening the spark.

With uninterrupted vistas over Brisbane’s twinkling city lights, and just the right amount of thrill, this is one date night that promises to leave a lasting impression. Safely strapped into two-person dining tables, guests enjoy a three-course dinner (with a matching wine) curated by the culinary team at Bar Alto, known for its mouth-watering modern Italian menu and thoughtful use of local produce. The food is every bit as elevated as the setting, with diners given the choice of dishes like brodetto (Adriatic seafood stew with hand-made bucatini), Roman gnocchi with braised spiced duck, jus, cultured butter, pecorino and sourdough pangrattato, and roasted pumpkin and ricotta gnudi.

Once seated, the pace is relaxed and romantic. The sky shifts from dusky pink to deep indigo – and you’ll quickly forget you’re harnessed into a table suspended four stories above the ground … until the adrenaline kicks in again, usually with the arrival of dessert.

Just when you think the evening couldn’t get any more memorable, there’s one final twist. For the bold and the brave, Vertigo offers a controlled descent back to earth via a 17-metre dropline down the side of the Powerhouse building. It’s a thrilling finish that turns date night into the most memorable meal you’ll have all year.

The dinner service runs on Friday and Saturday evenings, with limited tables available at each sitting. Whether you’re getting to know someone new or planning a long-overdue night of adventure with your other half, Vertigo delivers atmosphere, flavour and a little fear-of-heights-induced flirting in spades.

Bookings are essential – and romance is guaranteed. Secure your seats here.
