Mohr brings refined all-day dining and warm hospitality to Burleigh Heads

Burleigh Heads has a fresh new flavour – one already catching the attention of early risers, office-bound locals and weekend wanderers. Mohr (pronounced ‘more’), a fresh-faced all-day eatery now open beside Common Ground, blends cafe culture, deli convenience and vibrant, produce-led cooking into a format the Gold Coast hasn’t quite seen before. And it is entirely shaped around how people want to eat right now – here’s everything you need to know ..

At Mohr’s helm is husband-and-wife duo Rob and Eden Mohr, whose culinary life has taken them around the world aboard luxury superyachts. “We tried to get out of hospitality,” Rob laughs, “but it’s in our blood.” After nearly two decades refining their craft and sense of service, they’re pouring all of that experience into their most personal project yet.

Inside, the rhythm is unmistakable – bright, calm and considered. A cabinet gleams with colourful salads, while heat-and-eat dinners are stacked neatly in a nearby fridge. The dine-in menu flows effortlessly from morning to afternoon, sidestepping the usual boundaries of cafe dining.

Mohr’s all-day breakfast selection sets the tone and although it’s still early days, favourites have already emerged. The croque monsieur is leading the charge, followed closely by the shakshuka scramble, while the Indian-inspired rosti with cashew cream, sweet-potato relish and puffed buckwheat is quickly becoming a signature. Even their tomato-pesto-stracciatella toast has had its moment online (insider tip, add prosciutto).

Flexibility is baked into the Mohr experience. Craving lunch at sunrise or a burger before 10:00 am? No problem. “We don’t really care,” Rob says. “If you want a burger at 9:00 am, it’s up to you.” The broader menu spans mezze-style plates, tacos, burgers and loaded pizza sandwiches, with the grilled-veg mezze platter (boasting coconut labneh, hummus, charred bread and your choice of protein) emerging as a crowd-pleaser, especially when paired with a Black Hops brew next door.

But it’s the deli arm that may be Mohr’s quiet triumph. Designed for people who are on the go but still value fresh, nourishing food, it offers salads, ready-made bowls and combo meals that slot neatly into busy days. We want people to be able to come in when they’ve only got 20 minutes up their sleeve and order a combo meal,” Rob explains. Pick a base, add a drink, choose an extra – perhaps a chia pudding for tomorrow’s breakfast, a loaded focaccia or something sweet – and you’re out the door. The ability to dine in for breakfast, grab lunch to go and take home dinner is already proving irresistible.

And for evenings, the ‘Mohr for Later’ meals are designed exactly for nights when cooking isn’t on the cards. We’re going to start putting more meals in there that people can purchase and take home,” Rob says, but for now you can find vegetarian lasagne alongside slow-cooked beef ready to heat and eat. Wholesome, convenient and chef-made, they’re poised to become a local staple.

To drink, the team pours Miami’s That’s Whyld Coffee Roasters alongside fresh juices and a range of house-made sober coolers, with flavours including raspberry hibiscus, cucumber margarita, pina colada and mango passion – all bright, low-sugar and built to complement Mohr’s fresh-food ethos.

With its flexible format and quietly ambitious offering, Mohr  feels destined for neighbourhood favourite status. As Rob puts it, “We know people want somewhere that feels like good value for money. They’re paying for quality, but they are feeling like, yeah, it’s worth it … it’s a good product.”

Mohr is now open, head to The Directory for opening times.
