An intimate evening of French wine, fine food and waterfront dining is set to unfold on the Gold Coast next month, as River House hosts an exclusive Perrin Family wine dinner celebrating one of France’s most storied wine dynasties.
Taking place on Monday March 16, the one-night-only La Vieille Ferme x Perrin family French wine dinner will pair a five-course degustation with wines drawn from the celebrated Famille Perrin portfolio, including expressions from the Rhone Valley and the iconic Chateau de Beaucastel. The evening will be elevated further by the presence of Emilie Blanc, country manager for Famille Perrin and Chateau de Beaucastel, who will join guests to share insight into the history, philosophy and wines of the estate and its wider family portfolio.
For lovers of French wine, Chateau de Beaucastel needs little introduction. With centuries of history and under Perrin family ownership since 1909, the estate has become synonymous with Chateauneuf-du-Pape, revered for wines of longevity, character and distinctive personality. Spanning five generations, the Perrin family is internationally recognised for producing wines defined by balance, elegance and a deep respect for terroir.
Held at River House, the Gold Coast’s newest waterfront dining destination, the evening will begin with champagne on arrival followed by live entertainment, creating a premium hosted experience designed to be both educational and social.
The menu has been crafted by River House executive chef Grant Madwick to mirror the structure and progression of the wines with a strong focus on fermentation and layered flavour development.
“We approached this menu the same way the Perrin family approaches winemaking – with patience, respect for ingredients and a focus on natural processes,” Grant said.
“Fermentation plays a key role across several dishes, from the fermented peanut satay with the lamb to the nuanced acidity and umami built into the gravlax and mushroom parfait. Those elements are there to echo the texture, tannin and aromatics of the Rhone varietals.
“Each course has been constructed to move in step with the wines, building from freshness and minerality through to depth, spice and richness, so guests experience the food and wine as one narrative rather than separate components.”
The degustation will include dishes such as beetroot salmon gravlax with goat’s cheese and sumac farce, Peking duck mille-feuille with sour-cherry glaze, French-trimmed lamb cutlet tempura with fermented peanut satay, and filet de boeuf with Pedro Ximenez dark chocolate jus. Wines poured across the evening will showcase both the approachability of La Vieille Ferme, which is affectionately known as the “chicken wine” in reference to its iconic label, and the precision and pedigree of Chateau de Beaucastel and the wider Famille Perrin portfolio.
Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur or simply curious to learn more, the event reflects River House’s commitment to curated, experience-led dining on the Gold Coast, offering guests access to globally respected wines in a setting that encourages conversation, connection and storytelling.
