From Colombia to Robina – Estate No. 6 is serious about really good coffee
When it comes to excellent coffee, we’re pretty spoilt here on the Gold Coast. There’s no shortage of places to grab a cup, but every now and then, you find one that makes you want to know a little more about what’s actually in it. Robina newcomer Estate No. 6 is one of those places. The new all-day cafe has opened at the base of the Cascade building on Laver Drive, pouring single-estate Colombian coffee sourced directly from a family-run farm and roasted just down the road in Burleigh Heads.
Estate No. 6 is the second cafe from the team behind Good Day Specialty Coffee in Tugun and is co-owned by Willy’s Beans founder Jayson Mathiou. The name is a nod to the Colombian estate where the beans are grown, sourced exclusively by Willy’s Beans before being roasted in small batches at its Burleigh Heads roastery. It’s a relationship Jayson wanted to put front and centre at the new Robina cafe.
“We wanted Robina to have the same connection to the growers that we’ve built at Good Day in Tugun, poured by people who genuinely care about where it comes from,” Jayson says.
For those who like to venture beyond their usual flat white, there’s plenty to explore. Alongside espresso, Estate No. 6 has a dedicated filter program, with rotating single-origin coffees brewed through the xBloom and V60, as well as cold brew, batch brew and iced batch.
The specialty drinks give the menu a playful edge, with a rotating line-up of cold-foam creations designed to have a little fun without losing sight of the quality of the coffee underneath. Beans are also available by the bag, so you can attempt to recreate the experience at home.
Of course, coffee this good calls for something to eat alongside it. Estate No. 6 is an all-day affair with the menu opting to keep things relatively simple, leaning on quality, locally sourced ingredients and organic produce where possible. There’s a bacon-and-egg roll for the morning crowd, alongside a smoked ham and gruyere toastie and a loaded ‘breaky plate’, while lunch brings a chicken caesar and a seasonal salad that will change as the weather does.
If you’re grabbing something on the run, there are house-made banana breads, cookies and muffins in the cabinet, plus a selection of ready-to-go bites. Protein smoothies made in partnership with Body Science are also available.
The cafe sits at the base of Cascade, a new residential community within walking distance of Robina Town Centre, Robina Hospital, Bond University and Robina Train Station. For Jayson, the location presented an opportunity to create the kind of local people would actually leave the house for.
Subscribe for updates“Cascade has over 200 apartments and no proper local cafe, so there was an obvious gap,” Jayson says. “We wanted to give residents, and workers in the surrounding universities, hospitals and offices and the buzzing Robina community somewhere on the main street worth walking to instead of ordering in.”
Estate No. 6 is currently keeping things to breakfast and lunch, but there’s more to come. Dinner service and special events are planned for later in 2026.
If you’re the kind of coffee drinker who likes knowing a little more about what’s in your cup, Estate No. 6 is well worth putting on your Robina rotation.
