Pull up a milk crate at Birch Coffee Bar – Burleigh’s new hub for morning matcha and cold foam
Burleigh’s coffee circuit just scored a fresh new addition – and this one is keeping things strictly AM. Birch Coffee Bar is a pint-sized newcomer dedicated to the morning shift, pouring top-notch brews and dishing up tasty bites with a ‘support small’ ethos that keeps much of the menu close to home.
You’ll find Birch on West Burleigh Road, right next door to Peaches Pilates. It’s a coffee bar in the truest sense – the setup is simple, with a few seats out front and milk crates to perch on while you sip, or you can grab your order and keep moving.
Coffee comes courtesy of Gold Coast roaster Lacey’s Lane, with all of the classics pouring alongside cold brews topped with brown-sugar or Biscoff cold foam. Matcha fans are equally well catered for, with ceremonial-grade matcha from local brand OHAYO, which you can jazz up with house-made strawberry syrup or cold foam. Mango, berry and vanilla smoothies are also in the mix.
Feeling peckish? There’s a tight selection of savoury and sweet bites to go with your morning sip. Toasties are made on Burleigh Baker bread, with fillings like locally smoked ham, mozzarella, cheddar and gruyere, finished with Jersey milk bechamel.

The sweet cabinet is home to a line-up of treats, all made fresh in house daily – from a creamy Basque cheesecake, to matcha and salted-choc cookies, protein balls, healthy slices and more.
Come Friday morning, the cabinet gets an extra treat – a limited run of freshly baked scrolls. Trays of classic cinnamon scrolls lathered in cream-cheese icing are joined by a rotating weekly flavour, but the window to snag one is short. They’ve been known to disappear by 7:00 am, so make sure you set that alarm!
For now, Birch is all about weekday mornings, pouring from 5:30–11:30 am Monday to Friday for workers grabbing a brew on the run, post-Pilates coffee seekers and locals popping past for their morning fix. Saturday trading is coming soon, giving weekend early birds a chance to get in on the action.
