Local artists will get new opportunities thanks to a three-year partnership announced between Museum of Brisbane and an Australian-wide property and investment company.

Do you get bored when they start reeling off a list of sponsors at art event openings? Maybe. But there’s a point to this and as anyone in the arts will tell you a loyal sponsor is like gold and will remain so.
Governments fund the arts, to a degree, but the arts need support from the business and philanthropic community. And luckily that support is increasingly forthcoming on the local scene in Queensland.
Shayer Group, an Australian property development, investment and asset management company backed by major Taiwanese developer Pau Jar Group and led by billionaire John Lin, has teamed with Museum of Brisbane on a bold new three-year venture to create opportunities for local artists.
With a mutual interest in elevating local artists and contributing to a vibrant local creative economy, Shayher Group and Museum of Brisbane come together as the city prepares for Brisbane 2032.
Since 1999, Shayher Group has delivered residential, commercial, retail and precinct projects – from neighbourhood centres to major city developments, including Brisbane Quarter and Melbourne’s Pentridge precinct.
Shayher Group is a long-term major sponsor of Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, Opera Queensland and Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
At Museum of Brisbane it will support a series of major exhibitions and community programs, advancing the museum’s mission to engage locals and visitors with Brisbane experiences.

Shayher Group director John Lin says supporting the arts is an investment in the future of the city.
“Shayher Group believes the arts are vital to creating a sense of community and enriching the everyday experience,” says Lin. “We are proud to join Museum of Brisbane as principal partner and support an organisation that celebrates the people, stories and creativity that make Brisbane such a dynamic city.
“This three-year partnership gives us the opportunity to help bring culture into more people’s lives, from supporting a major exhibition in 2027 to a new guided tour and Museum of Brisbane pop-ups at Brisbane Quarter. We hope this partnership will contribute to a vibrant cultural life in Brisbane and help create experiences that inspire curiosity, conversation and a sense of wonder for many years to come.”
Museum of Brisbane CEO ans director Zoe Graham welcomed Shayher Group.
“We are thrilled to welcome Shayher Group as Museum of Brisbane’s first principal partner,” says Graham.
“Their long-standing commitment to Brisbane and the arts makes them a natural partner for the museum, and this support will help us create more opportunities for people to connect with the stories, creativity and character of our city. The partnership will help take the museum beyond our walls and into the heart of the community.”
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says the partnership will support local artists while creating more free and affordable ways to experience arts and culture.
“Brisbane is home to a thriving creative community and partnerships like this help give local artists more opportunities to showcase their work,” says Schrinner. “Museum of Brisbane makes arts and culture accessible to everyone, with free and affordable experiences that give residents and visitors more to see and do in Australia’s lifestyle capital.”
