Queenslanders are being told to brace for yet another weekend of severe weather in the state’s south-east.

While the current forecast for the next few days is for mostly sunny conditions, warnings over strong winds and heavy rain are being issued from Friday.

But Bureau of Meteorology community information officer Daniel Hayes told InDaily there was a “bit of uncertainty” about how severe the weather could be.

“There’s still some uncertainty on what we will see over the weekend,” he said.

“We could be getting quite wet (but) the storms could be somewhat tempered by a cloud band.”

He said forecasters predicted the potentially stormy conditions could bring as much as 90ml of rain over the weekend.

“There’s a lot of moisture moving eastwards, so we’re expecting quite a decent drop of rain,” he said. “And we could get bigger storms brewing.”

“There is a chance there could be severe ones.”

It comes after wild storms brought heavy rain and huge hail – some the size of cricket balls – to the south-east over the last two weekends of October and the first weekend of November.

Rain and hail was also dumped on parts of the Gold Coast and Scenic Rim last weekend.

Meanwhile, coastal areas in the state’s further north will stay warm, with temperatures forecast to sit to to five degrees above average.

Heatwave warnings remain in place for the far north and Cape York.

Last month, a 21-year-old woman died after she was struck by lightning on the Sunshine Coast.

This comes as the bureau’s website weathered a storm of complaints about its revamped website after residents reported feeling unprepared during recent storms.
