A surging family-owned entertainment, hospitality and construction group has unveiled plans for a landmark $180-million 1.72-hectare development in the heart of one of Queensland’s fastest-growing urban hubs. Once complete, North Lakes Town Centre will be home to a five-star boutique hotel, restaurants, boutique retailers, green spaces and wellness facilities. Here’s what we know …

Comiskey Group, the Queensland-based entity behind Sandstone Point Hotel, The Doonan and the Dakabin Hotel has secured the land tender for a large-scale development nestled smack bang in the centre of City of Moreton Bay’s percolating epicentre. The North Lakes Town Centre precinct will transform the 1.72-hectare site into what the team describes as a “mini-James Street”, combining lifestyle, leisure and hospitality experiences into a nerve centre to rival Fortitude Valley’s world-famous thoroughfare.

Award-winning architectural firm bureau^proberts has been appointed to bring the development to life. The precinct will be anchored by a boutique 130-room, five-star hotel (which will be positioned above a brand-new upscale 2500-sqm Comiskey Group hospitality venue) and will also feature premium restaurants, boutique fashion retailers, a gym, wellness facilities and green public space.

“We put the call out last August for an iconic proposal that would elevate City of Moreton Bay on the tourism map, and Comiskey Group’s vision ticks every box with world‑class design by Bureau Proberts, genuine community benefit, and serious economic horsepower for our City,” said City of Moreton Bay mayor Peter Flannery.

With a goal towards cultivating a strong visitor economy and meeting the needs of the city’s rising population, Comiskey Group projects that the North Lakes Town Centre precinct will generate more than 880 jobs during construction and operation over the first five years, while also injecting an estimated $538 million into the local economy.

“North Lakes is home to more than 24,000 residents within the booming City of Moreton Bay,” says Comiskey Group director Rob Comiskey. “Despite this growth, there has never been a central, world-class town centre that brings everything together, until now. This project will be the beating heart of North Lakes – a place to dine, shop, stay and be entertained.”

More detailed designs and approvals for the development are expected to progress throughout the remainder of the year, with construction slated to begin in 2026.
