The intersection of Merthyr Road and Brunswick Street has become one of New Farm’s busiest corners, and Little Lane is at the heart of the buzz. Adding to the suburb’s newfound energy is Luna Gelato, a sleek scoop spot from the duo behind Rosé Gelateria. Here, the focus is solely on traditional Italian-style gelato with a playful, experimental edge.
A lot has changed in New Farm in 2025. The leafy inner-north enclave has been undergoing a metamorphosis of sorts in recent years, but it seems like things really kicked up a notch over the last 12 months.
The change has been most evident at the intersection of Merthyr Road and Brunswick Street – a nexus that has always been busy, but is now a consistently buzzing hive of activity, thanks in no small part to the arrival of Little Lane. This two-storey mixed-use development is home to a number of lifestyle and hospitality businesses, including blockbuster bakery-cafe Idle.
Joining Little Lane’s ranks earlier this month was Luna Gelato, the brand-new scoop spot from Bronson Tucker and Diana Prinz, of Rosé Gelateria fame. Seeking an opportunity to test themselves with a concept different to Rosé’s cafe-style operational model, the duo decided to snag a space at Little Lane for something a bit more streamlined, but no less special.
“We’ve always wanted to do something different, something a little bit more elevated in a different way,” says Bronson. “Rosé is beautiful, but it doesn’t suit every location – it suits the spots we’re in, the little villages and stuff. But this space, the landlord and my wife and I agreed that we could do something pretty cool.”
With Luna Gelato, Bronson and Diana are stripping things back to basics, linking up with Space Cubed Design Studio and Lowry Group to fashion a space where they could really hone in on small-batch, Italian-inspired gelato.
“Here we are focusing wholly and solely on gelato, whereas at Rosé there’s coffee, cookies and other bits and pieces,” explains Bronson. “What we wanted to do here was authentic and traditional, but with a bit of a twist – a little bit more experimental.”

Though named after their dog Luna, Bronson and Diana are leaning into the cosmic connotations with the look of their new gelato joint. A stainless steel gelato counter is offset by rendered concrete walls and deep burgundy tiling. While clearly geared towards scoop-and-scoot custom, there are four stools available for those that can’t walk and eat.
Atop the counter sits approximately 22 shiny pozzetti gelato cabinets – insulated and temperature controlled tubs engineered to keep gelato in tip-top shape, no matter the temps outside.
“They’re very Italian – they’re built to withstand the Italian summer,” says Bronson. “It cools all round, not just the top, so you’re getting a real consistent temperature around the whole tub.”
Inside these tubs are an array of flavours that vary from classic to out-there. You’ll spy crowd-favourite flavours like vanilla bean, pistachio praline and Lindt chocolate, to more experimental options like bubblegum, creme brulee, and Earl Grey and biscuits. A selection of dairy-free flavours and sorbets are also on deck, including passionfruit sorbet and vegan-friendly Biscoff gelato. Expect new flavours to rotate in and out, with seasonal and holiday-themed specials being concocted constantly.
“It’s giving us the opportunity to tinker with some creative flavours,” says Bronson. “It’s almost like a science experiment in the way that we’re doing things in the lab to get it right.”
Whether you like your scoop in a cup, a choc-coated cone or as part of a gelato shake, Luna Gelato’s got you covered. Head to The Directory for operating hours and contact details.
