Founded in Adelaide in 1915, Haigh’s Chocolates has spent more than a century perfecting the art of indulgence. For most of that timespan, it’s been hard for Brisbane locals to get their fix of the artisan chocolatier’s products. Finally, Haigh’s is expanding its reach to Brisbane, with a trio of stores planned to open this year. Here’s what we know …

For the longest time, the only way Brisbane confection cravers could get a taste of the artisanal delights made by Haigh’s Chocolates was by placing an online order or by stocking up when visiting its Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra or Melbourne stores.

In good news for those of you with a serious sweet tooth, the team behind the premium chocolate maker has just announced plans for a massive Queensland retail expansion, with three new Haigh’s Chocolates stores set to open in Brisbane in 2026.

Haigh’s Chocolates will make its official Queensland debut in August with the launch of its first store at Westfield Mt Gravatt Shopping Centre, which will be followed by the opening of new chocolatiers in Chermside and Carindale before the end of the year.

Once open, these stores will offer the full Haigh’s product line, including top-selling products like its Chocolate Speckles, Chocolate Frogs and Scorched Almonds, Chocolate Pastilles and assorted truffles.

The move is a significant manoeuvre for the family-owned operation, which commenced a 10-year growth strategy with the construction of an 18,000 sqm state-of-the-art production, warehouse and online-fulfilment facility in South Australia last year.

To support this growth, the company is expanding its chocolate-production capacity from 1100 tonnes to 2000 tonnes, while also employing 75 people as part of its Queensland recruitment drive. The entry into the Brisbane market will see the brand’s retail footprint expand to 26 stores nationwide.

“With Queensland customers representing 18 percent of our online sales and increased capacity following the opening of our new production, warehouse and online fulfilment facility in South Australia, the time was right to open in market,” said Haigh’s Chocolates chief executive Peter Millard.

“We’re thrilled to deliver our premium chocolates and signature Haigh’s experience direct to the hands of customers in Brisbane,” adds fourth-generation family member and brand ambassador, Alister Haigh. “It’s been a long time coming, undoubtedly there will be many Brisbane chocolate lovers delighted to hear this news.”

Keep your eyes peeled for more info on the opening dates of the new Haigh’s stores in the coming months.
