Sarah Baldwin of acclaimed Fortitude Valley restaurant Joy is linking up with vino pro Olivia Evans for an afternoon of food, drink and connection. Neighbourhood Feast will see the duo head to one of Brisbane’s best independently owned farms to serve a shared lunch showcasing organic produce. Here’s what you can expect …
Ask any foodie and they’ll tell you that a seat at Joy can be hard to come by. The ten-seat fine diner, tucked away in Bakery Lane, is typically booked out up to four months in advance – a testament to Sarah’s creative cooking and passion-laced service style.
In early August, the acclaimed chef will take her talents outside of Joy’s intimate setting, teaming up with sommelier Oliva Evans for Neighbourhood Fest – a glorious afternoon of hearty fare, top-shelf wine and community vibes.
The event is taking place on Sunday August 2 at Neighbourhood Farm – a small-scale market garden based in Corinda. Before dining, guests will be treated to a guided tour by farm owner and manager Matt, who will explain the organic and regenerative practices employed to produce the farm’s range of fresh vegetables and herbs.
After the tour, diners will gather around communal tables and enjoy a four-course shared feast crafted by Sarah using produce sourced on site. Olivia will be matching each course with a hand-picked beverage, with the seasoned somm sharing the stories behind each drop.
Tickets for Neighbourhood Feast are available via the Joy website, with a second feast for hospo workers taking place on Monday August 3.
