Get crafty with some of Brisbane’s boldest artists at MoB
Pick up some new skills, try something unexpected and head home with a piece made with your own hands at Crafty Party, Museum of Brisbane’s returning workshop series. Some of the city’s most inventive artists will be joining the special after-hours experiences, offering insights into their bold creative styles.
Museum of Brisbane is inviting the city to try its hand at some after-dark crafts with a bespoke, artist-led workshop series exploring different creative practices.
On Thursday September 17, illustrative ceramicist Bonnie Hislop will host a Crafty Party inspired by her new book Let’s Dabble!, a beautifully curated guide to ceramic building with Bonnie’s signature colourful flair. Akin to her practice, the workshop will encourage exploring curiosity, creativity and the joy of making as participants personalise one of Bonnie’s handmade Friend for Your Feeling sculptures, which draw on the tradition of worry dolls.

The next workshop will take place on Thursday November 12, where dynamic Brisbane artists Sunday Jemmott and Renee Kire will guide participants to create a colourful floral sculpture inspired by the duo’s bold takes on colour, shape and abstraction. During the workshop, guests will create a one-of-a-kind artwork while guided by Sunday’s whimsical and experimental style paired with Renee’s investigations of form, colour and space.
Museum of Brisbane’s Crafty Party series is a chance for Brisbane audiences to get in touch with their artistic sides and connect directly with the artists shaping Brisbane’s creative scene. Both sessions will run from 6:00–8:30pm at Museum of Brisbane, with all materials included plus light refreshments, nibbles, beverages, and a handmade creation to take home.
