A new waterfront Italian trattoria is set to open at Howard Smith Wharves this Wednesday September 10. Named in tribute to filmmaker Federico Fellini who was known for capturing the vibrancy and romance of Italy, the new hotspot will pair high-energy street eats with sunny riverside views. Spearheaded by chef Carmine Guarino, who brings over 26 years of experience and Neapolitan roots, the menu looks to blend traditional Italian-style cooking with a modern twist. Designed for both dine-in and takeaway, the range of dishes available include Italian-inspired classics such as Bruschetta al Pomodoro with stracciatella, a creamy burrata caprese with heirloom tomatoes, handmade pastas, eggplant parmigiana, pizzas, seafood and delectable desserts, alongside a curated selection of beverages that echo the spirit of the Mediterranean. Fellini’s will officially open to the public on Wednesday September 10.
27 South Brewing to open soon in Coorparoo
With summer on the horizon, there’s no such thing as too many breweries. Soon, Brisbane’s southside will welcome a fresh addition as the duo behind 27 South Brewing – Nick Curry and Angus Brown – open the doors to their new Coorparoo brewery at 44 Milsom Street. Expect a line-up of fresh pours from the 27 South core range, including Parks American Pale Ale, Sunsets Vietnamese Lager and Daisy Chain Hazy Pale Ale, all served in a relaxed taproom setting. Whether it’s a laid-back family Sunday, a midweek post-work sip or an afternoon stop-in with the dog (yes, it’s pet-friendly), this new spot is designed for good times. Fanda Group announces opening date of Marlowe
Fanda Group has announced the opening date of its highly anticipated new Australiana-inspired restaurant Marlowe, which will officially welcome diners from Tuesday September 23. The acclaimed hospitality group – behind Brisbane favourites Southside and Central, as well as the Gold Coast’s Rick Shores, Norté and its rooftop sibling Sueño – is now turning its attention to Marlowe, housed within the heritage-listed Merivale Flats on the corner of Merivale Street and Fish Lane. Transforming a number of former apartments into distinct dining and bar spaces spread across two levels, the project marks the group’s most ambitious venture yet. Led by celebrated chef and co-owner Ollie Hansford, Marlowe will present a nostalgia-steeped take on Australian dining, with hyper-seasonal produce, indulgent flavours and intimate character-filled rooms promising to make it one of Brisbane’s most exciting openings of the year. Two ancient culinary worlds unite for a Deadly Feast
Later this month, Brisbane restaurant Dark Shepherd will welcome an exciting collaboration with First Nations chef and founder of Three Little Birds, Chris Jordan. The exclusive event will see Chris step into the kitchen with Dark Shepherd’s head chef Dianna Jorgo to reimagine, transform and fuse Mediterranean flavours with traditional Indigenous ingredients, revealing the untapped potential of Australia’s native food heritage. Taking place on Thursday September 25 alongside the launch of Brisbane Festival’s drone show Nieergoo: Spirit of the Whale, Deadly Feast diners will experience a captivating multi-course menu with highlights including taramasalata with fermented oora and woodfired pillow bread, kingfish namas topped with lemon myrtle and curry-myrtle sorbet, saltbush lame dressed in native-thyme oil, and traditional galaktoboureko with smoke paperbark custard, macadamia praline and native lime siropi (syrup). All ingredients for the Deadly Feast have been hand-selected and sourced directly across the Yugembeh Bundjalaung nations and GubbiGubbi Country, ensuring that each plate is a vessel of storytelling and shared wisdom. Wendy’s to launch Brisbane flagship Haus of Wendy’s next month
Wendy’s is about to supersize its Australian presence, with the brand’s first flagship Haus of Wendy’s set to open in Brisbane this October. Taking over a prime position in King George Square, the bold new concept is more than just a spot for burgers – it’s an immersive and innovative dining experience that includes themed spaces and a menu filled with Wendy’s signatures including its signature square burgers. The opening marks a major milestone in Wendy’s Aussie expansion, following the success of its Gold Coast debut, and comes with big ambitions with 200 restaurants across the country planned for the next decade. In collaboration with Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald’s latest exhibition at Outer Space, Art on James x Outer Space: A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table) invites guests to for an intimate banquet in the private dining room at sAme sAme on James Street. The experience is fixed around the idea of a shared table going beyond just a place to eat, but a space where culture, memory and identity are passed from one generation to the next. Guests will be treated to a bespoke three-course banquet layered with some of sAme sAme’s most exciting flavours, inspired by Ellamay’s Thai and Australian heritage. A secret dessert pop-up has landed in Albert Lane
Attention foodies! The City’s most Instagrammable pop-up has just arrived in Albert Lane and it’s oh-so-sweet. Tucked inside the Harajuku Gyoza window, the shop brings serious kawaii ice cream vibes with a fun mission to find it. The Mont Blanc dessert pop-up shop will be dishing out vibrant cones layered with fluffy air cheesecake, castella cake and mochi, all topped with delicate Mont Blanc strands pressed fresh to order, resembling the snow-capped peak of the iconic alps mountains. There are four flavours to choose from including strawberry, mango, taro and matcha – each as photogenic as they are delicious.
