World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants
The 2026 edition of the World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants list has been revealed and two of Brisbane’s finest have made the cut. Coming in at number 20 is Agnes, Anyday’s fire-centric Fortitude Valley restaurant famed for its use of wood and charcoal to cook sublime cuts of dry-aged beef over open flame. Joining Agnes on the list is SK Steak & Oyster – the refined and elegant steakhouse from the St Albans group inside The Calile Hotel. A first-timer on the list, SK was praised for its use of wet and dry-ageing techniques, earning it 77th place. The ranking, which first officially launched in 2019, combs the world for the finest in carnivorous cuisine, judging steakhouses across the globe on quality, craftsmanship, innovation and ambition. Australian venues dominated the 2026 edition, with venues like Neil Perry’s Double Bay standout Margaret earning the coveted number two position, followed by flame-powered institution Firedoor at 11, Arkhé in Adelaide at 16 and South Yarra’s Steer Dining Room at 29, to name a few. Pippa’s Pantry
When Pippa Blatch opened her fully vegan bricks-and-mortar bakery in Camp Hill back in 2024, she originally didn’t intend on slinging coffees. Almost a year on, though, and things have changed. Last week, Pippa’s Pantry unveiled its own coffee and matcha bar, expanding its range to include vegan cold foams (including mini-egg cold foams), vegan cookie lids, a full matcha menu, Turkish Delight hot chocolates and Biscoff iced lattes. The bakery and coffee bar is open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Greenhouse
In case you missed yesterday’s news, allow us to bring you up to speed on the latest rumblings coming out of Newstead. Next month, Rebelo Group (The Wolf Dining and Stanton Brasserie) will open The Greenhouse at the base of Mirvac’s Quay Waterfront Newstead on Skyring Terrace. Here, fire-driven cuisine, warm timber, stone and glass will blur the boundary between indoors and the greenery of Waterfront Park. Conceived as both a refuge and gathering place, The Greenhouse layout will flow like water from bar to dining hall to lounge, inviting guests to drift between moments – an easy drink, a shared meal or weekend breakfast. The menu will be shaped by woodfire and charcoal, with generous plates designed for passing hands and shared stories, while the wine list – thoughtful and unpretentious – will mirror the venue’s gentle balance of elegance and ease. In this burgeoning pocket of Newstead, The Greenhouse readies itself to become the social heart of Newstead.

Haigh’s Chocolates
For years, Brisbane’s sweet-toothed have admired Haigh’s Chocolates from afar, relying on online orders or interstate visits to sample its handcrafted confections – but 2026 will mark a long-awaited homecoming. The family-owned chocolatier has announced a major Queensland expansion, with three Brisbane stores set to open this year, beginning with its debut at Westfield Mt Gravatt Shopping Centre in August, followed by locations in Chermside and Carindale before year’s end. Each boutique will brim with the full range of Haigh’s beloved treats – from Chocolate Speckles and Frogs to Scorched Almonds, Pastilles and delicate truffles. The move forms part of a broader growth strategy underpinned by a new large-scale production facility in South Australia, boosting capacity and enabling expansion to 26 stores nationwide, alongside a local hiring push of 75 staff.
