Patagonia Brisbane invites you to the grand opening night on Thursday May 21
Trailing close behind the opening of its Hobart store in late 2025, Patagonia has now opened the doors to its new Brisbane location. Located on Wandoo Street in Fortitude Valley, the store aims to be a hub for Queensland’s active outdoor community. The shelves are stocked with outdoor apparel designed for activities ranging from surfing and trail running to snow sports, climbing, and mountain biking. Patagonia Australia’s country director, Dane O’Shanassy, said the new store is about creating “spaces where people can come together around shared values for the outdoors and the planet,” further instilling the company’s commitment to the region and to protecting the places people love. Bookstore cross writers hub just opened in California Lane
Tell Me How It Ends has no plans of being an ordinary bookstore. Owner Lauren Jones’ vision for her first bookstore – aptly named after her first novel – is for it to double as a creative hub for local writers and authors to gather, discuss, write and brainstorm together. With three published novels of her own and an avid love for books, Lauren designed the store to feel like an antique library with a dark academia-inspired atmosphere and mossy green accents. Tell Me How It Ends plans on hosting everything from author workshops and book launches to writers groups and book clubs, alongside a curated book offering with a focus on novels by local indie authors. Tell Me How It Ends officially opened on Sunday May 3 on California Lane in Fortitude Valley. Keep an eye out for updates here.

Premier pilates club NUA Studios just opened in Fortitude Valley
After years of teaching, working behind the scenes in studio operations, hosting wellness retreats in Byron Bay and more, Katie Gosson has opened the doors to her first Pilates studio. NUA Studios is located across the road from Mosconi at 163 Arthur Street, just a stone’s throw from the hustle of James Street. After observing that many wellness studios either lack a sense of community or fall short on aesthetics, Katie set out to create something different. Her vision is a soulful space that goes beyond the typical studio experience – one which is built around community, with a strong emphasis on intentional design. “If I’m in a room for 45 minutes, I want it to be a beautiful one,” she says. The studio will offer reformer pilates, mat pilates and yoga, alongside an app where members can explore instructor profiles, track their progress and browse different class types – with plans to introduce virtual classes in the future.

Romancing The Novel bookstore to open in August
After identifying a gap in the market, writer Scarlett Hopper opened Sydney’s first romance bookstore, Romancing The Novel (RTN) in late 2024. Now, 18 months later, she is preparing to unveil a second store in Brisbane this August. The shop will act as a community space for both writers and readers to come together and celebrate the genre, stocking a wide range of romance titles alongside special editions, book-related stationery and merchandise – including Kindle charms. Alongside its retail offering, Scarlett plans to host local book club events, author talks and craft nights. While the store’s location is still under wraps, it’s set to carry the same heart and charm as its New South Wales counterpart – but with its own unique Brisbane flair. Romancing The Novel is expected to open its doors in August this year. Head over here for more details, including how you could score a free goodie bag on opening day.
