Queensland’s property sector is being invited to showcase its best developments as the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) opens entries for its ninth edition, with organisers highlighting the opportunities emerging across Australia’s fastest-growing urban markets.

The awards program, which has expanded its category lineup for 2026, comes as Brisbane continues to attract national and international attention thanks to strong population growth, major infrastructure investment and increasing interest from overseas investors seeking stable, long-term opportunities.

New categories this year include Best Condo Developer, Best Housing Developer, Best First Home Development, Best Wellness Hospitality Development, Best Marina Development, Best Landmark Development, Best Sales Gallery Interior Design and Best Landmark Design. The additions reflect changing buyer expectations and growing demand for projects that deliver not only housing, but lifestyle, connectivity and community outcomes.

For Queensland developers, the expanded awards arrive at a pivotal moment.

With Brisbane preparing for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, significant investment continues to flow into transport, entertainment and urban renewal projects across South East Queensland. Combined with sustained interstate migration and a growing international profile, the state is increasingly viewed as one of Australia’s most attractive destinations for both investment and development.

The PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards program has long recognised excellence across the Asia-Pacific region, connecting Australian projects with buyers, investors and industry leaders from throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. Organisers say Australia’s major cities are entering a new phase of growth, supported by infrastructure investment and renewed confidence from international capital.

Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events, referred to the Australian market as “poised for a resurgence.”

In Queensland, major infrastructure projects, population growth and increasing demand for quality housing continue to strengthen the state’s position within the national property market.

The awards launch follows a series of Asia Connect forums held in Sydney and Melbourne, where developers, investors and industry leaders examined trends shaping the future of Australia’s urban centres. A key theme was the growing appeal of Australian property to international investors, particularly those from Southeast Asia seeking stable markets and long-term growth opportunities.

Ivan Lam, executive director for international business at Charter Keck Cramer and chairperson of the independent judging panel, said the awards provide a platform for developers to demonstrate how they are responding to changing market conditions and evolving buyer expectations.

“We are thrilled to honour the finest real estate in Australia this year,” Lam said. “We call on developers to submit their best and showcase their works to property seekers and peers across Australia and the region.”

The invitation is particularly relevant for Queensland, where demand continues to be underpinned by lifestyle appeal, economic growth and major infrastructure investment. From masterplanned communities and apartment developments to waterfront precincts and mixed-use projects, developers are increasingly responding to the needs of a growing and increasingly diverse population.

The awards culminate with a gala ceremony at Sydney’s Shangri-La Hotel on September 4, with Australian winners progressing to the international Grand Final in Bangkok later in the year. Entries remain open until July 10.

The ninth PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Australia) are supported by association partners Australia Malaysia Business Council (AMBC) in Victoria and New South Wales, HLB Mann Judd, Malaysian Developers Council of Australia (MDCA) and Savills Australia.
