Concerts on in Brisbane this weekend

Lime Cordiale and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra take over Fortitude Music Hall this Saturday night for the Brisbane stop of The Symphony Orchestra Tour. Expect a genre-bending, cinematic reinvention of Lime Cordiale’s biggest hits brought to life with soaring strings and thunderous brass. Tickets are on sale here.

Brad Cox kicks off a run of intimate shows at The Brightside this Saturday September 27. Celebrating his new album Endemic Intelligence of Multiple Dimensions Brad is bringing the full band back into the chaos with music that is raw, loud and unmissable.

Kylie Fisher brings her national tour to Lefty’s Music Hall this Friday September 26 for a one-night-only, high-voltage piano party. With over 50 shows across Australia, viral buzz and two decades of live performance experience, Kylie delivers raw energy and powerhouse vocals that turns every room into a full-throttle singalong.

Headzy Bop brings its signature house music day party to Brisbane for the first time, taking over QUIVR on Winn Lane this Saturday September 27. Known for deep minimal sounds, unique locations and inclusive vibes, the pop-up crew promises a sunlit afternoon of quality selectors and community energy in one of the city’s most exciting electronic music spaces.

Theatre and live events on in Brisbane this weekend

Shake & Stir Theatre Co unleashes The Lovers – a bold, high-energy musical at QPAC’s Playhouse. Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the audience will be swept up in awhirlwind of passion, mischief and magic. Don’t miss out, this production is running until Sunday October 5.

Due to overwhelming demand, an additional week of shows has been added to see Cirque du Soleil CORTEO at Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Art and exhibitions on in Brisbane this weekend

Faith, art and the everyday come together in The God of Small Things: Faith and Popular Culture – a must-see new exhibition at QAGOMA. At the heart of the exhibition are 48 rare oleographs by Ravi Varma (1848-1906), one of India’s most influential 19th-century artists, whose work blends European techniques with Indian iconography. Admission is free.

From August 19 to October 2, the Brisbane Quarter Atrium on Podium Level 1 will come alive with Matey’s: Diny & George, the latest large-scale installation from internationally celebrated artists Craig & Karl. Presented as part of the Craig & Karl: Public Art Trail for Brisbane Festival, the vibrant duo joins a citywide takeover of inflatables that will energise The City with colour, movement and joy.

Outer Space presents its seventh exhibition of 2025, A Seat At The โต๊ะ (Table), by emerging Yugambeh Country (Gold Coast) artist Ellamay Khongroj Fitzgerald. Showing from September 12 to October 11, the exhibition reimagines the gallery as a place of gathering, where food becomes both subject and storyteller, opening conversations about identity, belonging and cultural memory. It’s the last weekend to catch Fintan Magee’s first solo exhibition Long Walk Home at Onespace Gallery. Fintan’s large-scale paintings look to explore and examine themes of belonging, displacement and the feeling of isolation. Find more information on this exhibition here.

Archie Moore’s kith and kin exhibition opens this Saturday September 27 at QAGOMA. Archie has traced over 65,000 years of Kamilaroi and Bigambul relations via fragile chalk on blackboard. This extensive drawing captures First Nations Peoples of Australia alongside animals, plants, waterways and landforms in order to highlight our responsibilities to each other and surroundings. This exhibition is free.

Under a Modern Sun: Art in Queensland 1930s–1950s is currently showcasing at Queensland Art Galley until January 25, 2026. This thrilling exhibition displays the work of Queensland artists and those working in the state in the middle decades of the twentieth century, exploring the connections and development of modernist sensibility.

Wonderstruck is currently exhibiting works from over 70 Australian and international artists at GOMA. This free exhibition explores the vibrant world of colour, creativity and curiosity.

From August 9 to November 2, Da Vinci Machines: Inventions brought to life brings Leonardo da Vinci’s inventions to life across the City of Moreton Bay’s vibrant museums. The free exhibition will be showcased across Bribie Island Seaside Museum, Pine Rivers Heritage Museum and Redcliffe Museum, inviting visitors to get up close with Da Vinci’s work through hands-on models and informative displays.

Artist Mandy Quadrio brings fun and creativity to QAGOMA’s Art Box for Kids, running until October 26. As part of the ‘Art Box for Kids‘ project, Mandy’s activity Paper Treasure Carrier invites children to create their own unique paper treasure carrier to hold their cherished objects, secret finds and tiny keepsakes. No bookings needed.

Desire is a Machine is currently exhibiting until Saturday September 20 at The Institute of Modern Art. Curated by Institute of Modern Art Adjunct Curator Stephanie Berlangieri, the new show navigates schizoanalysis, hybridisation of the human and the machine and cyberfeminism.

Check out photographic exhibition All Shades by Kamilaroi artist Dean Saffron at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Dean travelled many kilometres to capture images of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from all walks of life. This mesmerising collection reflects 32 large-scale portraits, each image created in collaboration with the subject, location and story behind it.

Discover the depths of a dark forest with Harry Potter A Forbidden Forest Experience now on at Sirromet Winery. Come face-to-face with magical creatures as you explore and interact across the outdoor trail. Tickets are on sale now.

Museum of Brisbane’s major exhibition Precious showcases a stunning assemblage of items generously loaned from around 30 remarkable collections and collectors. Explore Brisbane through more than 3000 precious objects that reveal intriguing stories of culture, place, family and tradition, travel and trade.

Get hands-on at Micro Museum in the Museum of Brisbane open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Pint-sized curators are encouraged to create their own collections from a huge range of vintage treasures, inspired by MoB’s Precious exhibition with a series of colour-filled, creative series of immersive experiences and interactive activities. 

Stroll through Museum of Brisbane’s New Light: Photography Now + Then free photography exhibition. The collection features a mesmerising display of photographs (spanning from 1890 to 2024) by amateur Brisbane photographer Alfred Henrie Elliott (1870-1954). These extraordinary images laid dormant for decades until they were discovered in 1983, stored in cedar cigar boxes beneath a home in Red Hill.

Fun events in Brisbane this weekend

Brisbane Festival lights up the city with colour, music and spectacle. This year’s program is stacked with experiences that will move, challenge and surprise you in equal measure. Highlights for this weekend include, The Lovers, Elements of Freestyle and GATSBY at The Green Light.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers continues with blooms, bites and brand-new events across Queensland’s Garden City until October 6. Toowoomba’s iconic green spaces – Queens Park Botanic Gardens and Laurel Bank Park – will once again be a visual feast, joined by private gardens open to the public. Pearls and Pinots returns this Sunday September 28 with fine food, eclectic drinks and vinyl beats at Barry Parade Public House. DJ Marty Spencer (of Catalog Records on Wickham Street) will set the mood through 80s disco, early 90s hip-hop, Chicago house and more. On the food front, snacks will range from Mushroom dashi and duck-fat baked oysters to Olasagasti anchovies on toast with romesco and manchego. Guests can also expect a thoughtful mix of old and new world wines, craft beers, and a signature cocktail list that pays homage to vintage spirits and old-soul sips. This is a Sunday session not to be missed.

The People’s Dancefloor continues to light up Museum of Brisbane (MoB) with glitter, beats and dance moves until Monday October 6. The sequin-soaked celebration sees Artist in Residence Neridah Waters of Common People Dance Project bring big energy to MoB with a glittering exhibition, all-in workshops and a huge dance showdown in the heart of the city.

Watch the AFL Grand Final 2025 live and loud at Felons Brewing Co. this Saturday September 27 from 2:30 pm. Every kick and clash will be screened across four screens around the Barrel Hallf and Rivergarden. This event is family-friendly and free to attend.

Transport from a sophisticated French lounge to a pumping nightclub party at Blanc de Blanc Encore. Adding more dates to its show-stopping run at The West End Electric Theatre, get ready to be amazed at the world’s finest acrobatic talent, great tunes, big laughs, lots of skin and more than a few surprises. Markets on in Brisbane this weekend

Eat Street Northshore’s first-ever Oktoberfest kicks off two weekends of German-inspired food, bier, and live entertainment in Hamilton. From pork knuckle and steins to pretzel-throwing games and dachshund dress-ups, it’s a festive celebration packed with flavour and fun across four stages. Entry is $6 and free for kids under 13.

Fresh-local produce, bespoke goodies and street food snacks all await at Brisbane’s weekly markets. Kelvin Grove Village Market, Jan Powers Farmers Markets, Nundah Farmers Markets, West End Markets, Riverside Markets and the Redcliffe Markets are open and trading this weekend.
